This week we have been making kites. Room 5 made 'Birdman'kites.

Ra Kai

On Wednesday we had a Ra Kai day where we shared lunch with the whole school. It was not just any lunch however but a special lunch because we made it ourselves. Room 2 made balinies, Room 3 made ginger beer, Room 4 made pizza and Room 5 made cream and jam buns. We practiced making buns experimenting with what part the yeast played. First using yeast and then baking with out yeast.

Super student teacher

One Monday we had a powhiri for a new student teacher Mr,Noser.He came to learn how to be a teacher.We showed him our wonderful classroom and he loved it.Secondly, we interduced ourselfs it was like a tounge twister for him but he leart and he finally new them faster than you can say room fives awesome. One week passed and he started to teach maths and reading.It was fun that he could teach us new things but we could also teach him new things.Mr Noser then begun to teach us about moving picturs it was a long process of making a short clip by taking pictures then play them extremly fast to create our own movie.[We might be famous we thought in our heads.] After the super short holidays we came back to school and we continued as a normal class learning to make movies.Lately we have been doing voice clips ,script writing, pictures and we have also been making caracters we made stick figures [made out of real sticks] and also we made wire men and then finaly started to make our movies.Our movie is about Kauri Snails that are very rare and found in the Northland New Zealand. Mr Noser is having his test soon then he has to leave we all have sad faces but unfortunatly he has to go!!!! By Blossom

Cross Country

We had an awesome day with most students participating. Only six students are attending Bream Bay Competitions this year due to Rippa Rugby. I am looking forward to Thursday. I am sure we will do well.

Welcome to Term 2

We have a very busy term this term. Mr Noser our student teacher is in the classroom untill week 5. He is an expert in film making and is currently working on a unit with the students. They are making their own animations. Watch this space to see the results.

We have our last Rippa Rugby day next week, Hockey this week an Soccer this week and next. Cross country is coming up so students: start running around those feilds in practice. Soon we will be starting a technology unit on yeast. The end product should be a feast! The talent quest will also be at the end of term helping students get ready for the 'Production' in term 3. We also have interviews to see how students are going, at the end of the term.

The Sandpit

The students of Room 5 have been enjoying the sandpit lately. Today they made a massive sandcastle during lunch break.

Homework

Wow! The students are making the most amazing objects for the building part of thier homework. Their ideas are varied and never the same.
