Making Movies

Room 5 is very busy making movies for the first time. We have entered a competition called 'I am Making Movies' by the Auckland Museum. I lot has been learnt as we have completed an inquiry, writen a storyboard and script, learnt to use the video camera, and Movie Maker, all in five weeks! The movies are awesome so please enjoy them. I will add the links as the movies are finished. Please respect the fact these are the children's first attempts at making movies when you comment and that the movies can only be viewed by people with the links I have posted here.

James' Medals

My great Grandfather has some medals. These are not any medals. They are so glorious and shinny.

These medals are from the army. The army has groups of people and the history of my family has a lot of people who was in the army. That's why my great Grandfather is so important to me and my family.

Fire Safety

Today the fire safety people came to our school and showed us how to get out in a fire. It was sooooo fun because I went up to the front and did a 'stop, drop, and roll' to practice putting out a fire. Knowing what to do in a fire - get down, get low, get out, and dial 111 - is important. Also put your hands over your face and duck down because your face and hands are the most hardest parts of the body to fix when burnt in a fire.

Netball

We played netball in Wellsford and it was hard but fun. We played a good team called Mangiwhai 7. My favourite positions are goal shoot and center.

Movie Making with Donkeys

We went to do movie making about donkeys and we were pretending to be wounded soldiers beingsaved by the donkey man. We went to one of our class friends house on Wednesday after school. It felt really scary when the donkey stood on me and one of my good feelings was when I had a good turn on the donkey.

Room 5 has been very lucky to have a student teacher training in our room. Our students are benefiting from lots of chances to extend their learning.
